Safety Tips - Bus Danger Zone

DANGER ZONE (front of the school bus): It is NEVER safe to walk close to the front of a school bus. The driver is sitting up too high to see you. Walk at least 10 to 15 feet in front of the bus and make sure the driver sees you before crossing in front of it.

DANGER ZONE ( sides of bus): Remember NEVER walk too closely to the sides of the bus. Walk at least 5 to 10 feet away from the sides of the bus. You may be in the driver's blind spot if you are where he/she can't see you.

DANGER ZONE (behind the bus): NEVER walk behind the bus. The driver has no chance of seeing you.

Walking Area: When getting off the bus, make sure you walk (not run) at least 5 feet away from the door. Stay away from the wheels of the bus and watch out for moving cars. If you drop something, do not try to pick it up. Ask the driver for help.
