ACS Hosts Active Shooter Response Training

Albertville City Schools, in partnership with the Albertville Police Department and local community stakeholders, will conduct an Active Shooter Response Training at Albertville High School on July 21, July 23, July 28, and July 30, 2026.

This training is part of the district's ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of our students, staff, and community. The multi-day training will include classroom instruction and realistic emergency response exercises designed to strengthen coordination between law enforcement and school personnel.

Active Shooter Response Training

• July 21 and July 23
• July 28 and July 30

Law enforcement officers and community stakeholders will participate in classroom-based instruction covering active shooter response strategies, communication, incident command and coordinated emergency response procedures.

Law enforcement officers will also participate in a realistic active shooter response exercise inside Albertville High School.

During these exercises, simulated training ammunition will be used to create realistic training conditions. These simulated rounds are designed to sound similar to actual gunfire; however, no live ammunition will be used at any time during the training.

Information for Our Community

Residents and visitors may notice an increased law enforcement presence at Albertville High School during the scheduled training dates. Community members in the surrounding area may also hear sounds associated with the simulated training exercises.

This activity is planned, coordinated, and conducted in a controlled training environment. There is no threat to students, staff, or the public.

While the sounds of the exercises may be concerning, these realistic training scenarios are essential to ensuring that first responders and school personnel are fully prepared to respond effectively should an emergency ever occur.
