BOAZ — History was written Saturday inside Plunkett-Wallace Gymnasium at Snead State Community College.

Albertville did what had never been done before, sweeping all five championship games at the Marshall County Basketball Tournament in a dominant, program-defining performance that left little doubt about the depth and strength of Aggies basketball from top to bottom.

Varsity boys. Varsity girls. Junior varsity boys. JV girls. Freshman boys. Five championships. One day. One program.

“We knew going into the day that the question was there — can it be done?” Albertville Superintendent Bart Reeves said. “There are some great teams here, and we knew we could also come up short. We don’t have any kind of record to look it up, but as far as we know, this has never been done. Regardless, it’s a special day. The kids played really hard, the coaches worked really hard to get them ready, and then you see the community show up. It was just an awesome day to be an Aggie.”

The historic sweep was capped by the varsity boys and girls championships, both hard-fought victories over rival Guntersville.
