First Day for All Students
We had a great staggered start week! Remember that all students will begin school together on 8/12. It is a full school day. Car line drop off begins for kindergarten at 7:00, and students are considered tardy at 7:31. Kindergarten students will go to the gym to wait if they arrive before 7:15. Please remind your child of this. Car line for pre-k begins at 7:35, and students are considered tardy at 7:51. Students must have backpacks, lunches, etc. ready to exit the vehicle once it stops. Bus riders will be dropped off on the side of the kindergarten building and make their way to the gym. Students may not be walked in by parents unless car line has ended and they are tardy.
Car line pick up begins for kindergarten at 2:35 and car pick up for pre-k begins at 2:15. Parents were given a blue, yellow, or purple car tag at the beginning of the year. Your car tag should be hanging from your rearview mirror for the best visibility for teachers to call students’ names. Parents will line up in the correct lane according to their car tag color.
Bus Riders
You will need to be outside waiting for the bus by 6:15 in the morning for the bus. You must be visible to the bus driver. Once you figure out what time the bus wilI arrive at your exact location, you can adjust this time. We suggest waiting this early initially so you do not risk missing the bus.
Your child will come home wearing a band on their wrist. Please do not remove this band. Your child may shower with it on. This is very important for the first couple of weeks for accurate transportation of your child. Your child will also have a band on their backpack. This band must remain on their backpack for the entire school year. If your child changes backpacks at some point in the year, please communicate this with your child's teacher so they may receive a new bus band. This band is vital because many students are bussed from AKPK to APS/AES and change buses before going home.

🔔Reminders🔔
Communication
Ensure that you are checking your child's folder every day. This is a vital piece of communication between teachers and parents. Your child's folder also indicates which color team they are on.
Parent Notes
This year, the number of parent notes available to students has decreased. Five parent notes per semester that will excuse one day per parent note will be accepted. If a student is out more than one day, a parent note for each day will be required until all parent notes are used. After the student has used five parent notes for absences in the semester, a doctor’s note will be required.
If you forget to send an excuse, you can email them to our secretary, Monica Hill. Her email address is mhill@albertk12.org. Be sure to include your child's full name, teacher name, reason for absence, and date(s) of absence in any notes or emails. It is your responsibility to verify she has received your email.
Immunizations
It’s important for all pre-k and kindergarten students to be up-to-date on their immunizations. Required vaccines can be administered at the Marshall County Health Department or your child’s pediatrician’s office. Please contact them to schedule an appointment. Ensuring your child is vaccinated helps minimize the spread of diseases in our schools.
If you have any questions, reach out to Jessica Lewis. She is our school nurse. Her email address is jessicalewis@albertk12.org. If she or your child's teacher reaches out to you requesting your child's blue slip, please take care of this as quickly as possible.
Extra Clothing & Nap Towels
It is very important that your child has an extra set of clothes: shirt, pants, socks, and underwear. If they have a restroom accident or spill something on their clothes, they need to have something to change into. If they come home wearing their extra clothing, a new set needs to be sent on the next school day.
Your child needs to have a nap towel sent to school every week. They will be sent back and forth to be washed.
