Capital Project Updates

It’s an exciting time to be at Albertville City Schools! Each Monday, Dr. English sends out an internal communication that goes to every employee at ACS. There’s normally an update on what’s going on at ACS and then some motivation to help us all get through the week. This week’s Monday Minute had some BIG updates on our capital projects at Albertville High School that we wanted to share with our community as well! Thanks to our board, ACS leadership and our dedicated employees, we have been able to accomplish our facility goals without adding any debt to future generations of Aggies! That’s HUGE!

First up, the AHS Multipurpose Athletic Facility is set to be completed by July. In addition to being a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility, it will also have a turf field, batting cages and storage facilities for equipment. It will even have a classroom and training lab for students interested in sports medicine career tech!

The brand-new home for our Aggie Band is set to be completed by this fall! The AHS Band Hall will be the largest band facility in the State of Alabama and will accommodate our 350+ band members! Housed inside the former Coliseum, the facility’s proximity to the practice field and the size of the facility were big factors in choosing this new location.

The AHS Career Academy is set to be completed by the spring of 2024 and will be ready for our students beginning the 2024-2025 school year. This facility allows us to expand career and technical education opportunities for all students at AHS. These include welding, agriculture, health science, culinary, hospitality and tourism, advanced manufacturing, business, finance and marketing, advanced machinery, teaching and learning, cybersecurity, and more! It will be two stories and have flexible classroom capabilities.

Lastly, we wanted to take a minute to clear up some misinformation. The AHS Career Academy is an extension of AHS. Band students have and will continue to have the opportunity to take both band and career tech classes. If you have any questions, we’d love to talk to you. You can reach the Central Office by calling (256) 891-1183. Your ongoing support is crucial to the continued success of students and staff in Albertville City Schools. We will continue to be led by our vision of being committed to expanding opportunities for ALL students in a safe and nurturing environment that fosters innovation, rigor and excellence.
