MRS. SARA BUTLER ARGIRO holds a Master of Arts in English and education from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a Bachelor of Arts in theatre from the University of South Alabama, and professional accreditation in musical theatre from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Her teaching certifications are in grades 6-12 English language arts and k-12 theatre arts.
Mrs. Argiro is highly involved in both the national and state-wide educational theatre communities. She was a sponsor of high school thespian troupes in the National Educational Theatre Association for over 6 years, and she has been a member of the Alabama Conference of Theatre since 2009. She also served on its state-wide board of directors from 2018-2021, and she has continually served on its northeast Alabama district leadership teams since 2013.
Mrs. Argiro has won multiple awards for her work in theatre education. In 2011 Huntsville City Schools named her New Teacher of the Year. Her high school theatrical productions and students have won numerous awards every year at both district and state competitions, including: best actor, best actress, best supporting, best ensemble, best costumes, best technical production, and best in show. In 2018 Mrs. Argiro was bestowed the prestigious Secondary Teacher of the Year award by her teacher colleagues within the Alabama Conference of Theatre. And in 2021, she was a district winner and state finalist for the Governor’s Seal of Excellence Award in work-based learning due to her innovative theatre arts integration initiatives.
Mrs. Argiro is entering her 14th year as an accredited secondary educator and has 30 years of experience in theatre. Fall 2023 will start Mrs. Argiro’s second year teaching at Albertville High School. She is super excited to offer credited theatre arts classes to high school students beginning in the fall!
